Bark is peeling off my young bradford pear.

I have a young bradford pear tree that looks as if the bark, at the base of the trunk, is peeling away. I can see the shaft of the trunk. Why is this happening? What do I do? I have two other Bradford Pears next to it.

Hello It would appear that you have either experienced freeze damage from this winter or you have some kind of insect infestation. Without knowing or seeing the tree it would be hard to advise. I recommend that you get some advice form a reputable garden center if you want to help the tree. Kind regards. Steve Jones
