Cement under trees

Bark looks ugly but cement is attractive? Donna would get along quite well with my neighbor next door, who works at a craft store and buys up all the artificial flowers bunches once they go on clearance.

Under her 100 foot spruce (in total shade) she "planted" bunches of sun-loving wildflowers (about 8" high) and plastic grass. Edging the front of the foundation hedge are perfect little bunches of tulips, pansies and daffodils (again, in total shade). Additionally, and I don't know how she does it, she actually has mums in full bloom in the containers on her porch. She must really have some light soil, though, as the last rainstorm blew her hanging baskets of carnations clear across my lawn.

These two ought to teach classes on Gaudy Gardening and Cement Prevent for Farming.

Will pass it on! Steve
